
Emma is an experienced lawyer who focuses in family/divorce law.
Emma provides exceptional services in all areas of family law with a special interest in assisting clients with asset/wealth preservation and estate planning through prenuptial or cohabitation agreements. She recognizes the difficulties that are faced by families who are going through a separation and strives to provide practical solutions for her clients in issues of divorce, division of property, spousal support or alimony, parenting, child support, and in drafting separation agreements. Emma is a Collaborative Law Professional who endeavors to assist parties in reaching settlement in an out of court process through collaborative law, negotiation and mediation. If an out of court settlement is not possible, Emma has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration.
Born and raised in Victoria, Emma completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in history and political science from the University of Toronto. Emma subsequently attended the University of Calgary Faculty of Law where she completed her J.D. and received the Vallance Prize for excellence in Family Law. She commenced her legal career in Calgary, Alberta where she worked at a boutique family law firm before returning to Victoria. Emma joined Horne Coupar LLP in 2016 to expand Horne Coupar LLP’s practice in family law.
Emma is on the executive of the Collaborative Family Separation Professionals group in Victoria and the Canadian Bar Association Section Executive of the Family Law – Vancouver Island Section.
Emma is based at the Oak Bay office and is also available to meet with clients at the downtown location.
