Horne Coupar LLP is a second generation law firm, with partners Mark Horne K.C. and John Coupar succeeding their fathers, who established the practice in 1944. These family connections have created a culture of respect, loyalty and consideration for all members of the firm. The firm has a strong presence in the Greater Victoria community with its support of arts and culture. The partners have also made protection of the environment a priority, contributing to the global organization “1% for the Planet” since 2007 (with 1% of gross revenues annually donated to local environmental organizations).

At Horne Coupar LLP, you are not simply a student, associate or staff member – you are part of a family, the members of which look out for each other. The partners work to maintain a family culture by providing weekly opportunities to gather and check in with each other in a social setting. Further, if you have any questions or issues you can feel comfortable talking to any member of our firm to work through it and come to a solution. We also offer weekly mentoring sessions where our students and lawyers can discuss questions they may have about the practice of law or issues on a client file.

Horne Coupar LLP has a local and national reputation for excellence in the estate planning and litigation fields. While we specialize in planning, you will quickly discover that planning touches a number of practice areas. In this regard, the firm has a strong bench of corporate and family law practitioners complementing our estate planning and estate administration team. Should you have an opportunity to work with Horne Coupar LLP, your time here will expose you to a comprehensive legal experience that will build a solid foundation in the practice of law.

To apply, please forward your resume and cover letter (and for students, your transcripts) to Jill Soole at [email protected].
